I get this question from time to time because most people aren’t really sure what a life coach is or what a life coach does.
I didn’t either before I became one.
Honestly, I thought the job sounded pretty hokey—kind of a cross between a fortune-teller and drill sergeant. It’s horrible to admit, but I thought the people who had their own life coaches were confused, weak-willed, and desperate individuals who needed someone to tell them how to live their life.
I could not have been more wrong.
As Frederic Hudson defines in his book, The Handbook of Coaching,
“A coach is someone trained and devoted to guiding others into increased competence, commitment, and confidence.”
